D. Victor Perlroth, M.D.Victor Perlroth MD joined MPM’s San Francisco Office in 2007 as a full time Venture Partner. Prior to MPM, Dr. Perlroth was cofounder of Avidia, a biotherapeutics company, where he served as General Manager and then Vice-President of Corporate Development. In this role, at various times he had management responsibility for Avidia’s activities in the areas of finance, business and corporate development, licensing, planning for non-clinical and clinical development, intellectual property, corporate law, human resources, facilities and operations. He was one of two principals involved in the acquisition of the company by Amgen in October 2006. Prior to Avidia, Dr. Perlroth worked at Maxygen, where he was hired to spin-out the Avidia technology into a new company. Earlier, Dr. Perlroth worked at Guzik Technical Enterprises, the industry-leading provider of test equipment to the hard disk drive industry, where he was Chief Operating Officer. Prior to Guzik, Dr. Perlroth worked as an Associate at Nortel Networks where he defined an early-to-market version of Nortel’s next generation Optical Network and received an award for his “Exceptional Vision, Leadership, Dedication, Perseverance and Overall Exceptional Contribution to the Conception and Launch of a new Bandwidth-on-Demand Solution.” From 1997 through 1999, Dr. Perlroth was a member of the executive committee and Board of Directors of Biotraces, a biotechnology company focused on detection technologies for genomics and proteomics. Dr. Perlroth earned his M.B.A. and M.D. degrees from Stanford University and an A.B. in Molecular Biology summa cum laude from Princeton University where he was elected by the faculty to the Sigma Xi society for excellence in research. |
